Description of project

The Bundamba Advanced Water Treatment Plant located approximately 50 kilometers west of Brisbane is part of the Western Corridor Recycled Water Project and was the first of three AWTP's to be built as part of the recycled water scheme.

SJ Electric was awarded the electrical and controls sub contract which involved:

  • The supply and installation of 11KV Main Switchboard and distribution system including transformers.
  • The supply and installation of 415 volt distribution switchboards and MCC.
  • The supply and installation of all field cabling.
  • The supply and installation of PLC/SCADA control system.
  • The supply and installation of instrument pipe work and tubing.

The project was fast tracked requiring a great deal of flexibility in both manufacturing and installation techniques. During the peak of the project SJ Electric had over 100 people working on the project.

The plant produced "First Water" in August 2007 on time and has been providing process water to Swanbank Power Station since this time.
