Following a significant demerger that affected two major retail clients, S.J. Electric undertook a project to install revenue-grade submetering systems across more than 580 sites nationwide. At these sites, both businesses shared a common electrical supply. The challenge was to split the electrical supply so that each business could accurately account for its own electricity usage and associated costs. The roll-out of the sub metering systems across the 580 plus sites necessitated a meticulous approach, one that S.J. Electric have built their reputation on over the last 50 years. The scope of this project encompassed several critical components:
- Custom metering panel design and construction. To comply with diverse state regulatory requirements, S.J. Electric engineered and constructed custom metering panels tailored to each specific jurisdiction
- Precise metering panel installation. The team installed these custom metering panels, ensuring compliance with the client’s exact specifications
- Distribution switchboard upgrades. In cases where shared subcircuits relied on existing switchboard arrangements, new distribution switchboards were installed
One remarkable aspect of this undertaking was that all these tasks were executed without disrupting the live trading environments of either of the entities involved. This achievement stands as a testament to the exceptional efforts and coordination of our teams across the nation.
